We are pleased to announce that we have introduced several new ranges for electrical enclosures into our 2010 product catalogue. These include five new versatile ranges of electrical enclosures and introduced four new types of ventilation plugs for use in electrical enclosures.
The new electrical enclosure ranges include more than 100 size combinations moulded from high-performance polycarbonate and ABS materials. Options for the ranges include opaque or smoked transparent lids, solid wall or integral knockouts for cable glands. Many of the enclosures provide ingress protection to IP67 and impact protection to IK08 and are rated for temperatures up to 120°C.
Available alongside the enclosures are various ranges of accessories including internal mounting plates, hinges, wall mounting screws, flexible conduit, cable glands, diaphragm gland plates and pressure balance plugs.
The four new ventilation plug ranges cover sizes from M12 to M20, provide an IP69K-rated seal and are available in both nylon and stainless steel. There are also four rates of air permeability per size: from 16 to 220 litres an hour. Ventilation plugs are permeable to gases and vapours (e.g., air) but are impermeable to liquids and dust (e.g., water), which provides a means of balancing air pressure inside a sealed enclosure.
When an enclosure is heated and the expanded air is forced out from the seals, a vacuum is formed inside the enclosure. The gaskets are then exposed to large pressure differences and the enclosure cover could be difficult to open. The use of a ventilation plug can mitigate the potential damage to sensitive equipment:
